Exposition vannerie : L'Atelier des Hirondelles

Trained in traditional techniques at the National School of Wickerwork and Basketry, Gaële reproduces and repairs wickerwork, but she is driven by another desire… to reinterpret the form of objects, to revisit them, to bring them to life, to blend them with other plant materials or to make them come alive in gardens. She weaves wicker and cultivates it in a wicker grove. Each young willow shoot, carefully selected, is stripped of its bark to become white wicker or left to dry naturally to retain its natural colour. When soaked, the wicker regains its suppleness and can be woven endlessly, transporting her into a world that blends traditional techniques, creativity, nature, art and sustainability.
