After years of choral practice and training with the ethnomusicologist Martina Catella, and then with the Lebanese singer Sister Marie Keyrouz, Mira Ceti took up with her the tradition of the spiritual songs of the Eastern Churches, dating back over 1500 years. She has increasingly explored the role of voice and sound in the sacred rites of other traditional societies, which she has researched and discovered through her international tours with the group Heilung. These diverse influences have led her to extend her voice to a wide range of vocal traditions, working with the timbres, modes and registers that are specific to them, and developing a musical language drawn from the traditional songs of different cultures. The exceptional quality of her voice and the intensity of her interpretation open up new musical and spiritual horizons.
Her recital Nox Carmen - chants de nuit (Nox Carmen - night songs) takes us on a journey through Sephardic, Corsican, Basque and French songs, intimate or fantastical, laments or prayers, evoking the gentleness, fears and dreams of the approaching night.
