The village of Sassangy had a church very early on, since Count Henry I donated it to the priory of Paray in the 10th century.
The present church, partly buried on the north side, is of Romanesque origin, but has been much altered. Only the square bell tower dates from the end of the 11th century. It has two floors separated by a cordon, the first one decorated with bands and Lombard arcatures.
One enters the church from the west through a Gothic door, topped by a window from the same period.
The interior consists of a single nave, a bay supporting the bell tower, and a choir with a flat chevet.
